DC Doda reviews status of NDPS, POCSO court cases


DODA, OCTOBER 23 (RNA) : Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh chaired a meeting here today to review the status of court cases, specially related to NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

 
  The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Prosecution, other Prosecuting Officers, Assistant Public Prosecutor (ARA), and the Law Officer. The discussion focused on the performance of prosecution in handling legal matters and the urgency of addressing cases related to NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
 
The Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the growing number of pending cases, particularly those related to NDPS and POCSO, stressing the need for swift action in these sensitive matters. He directed the prosecuting officers to prioritize these cases and ensure that court proceedings are conducted efficiently to bring offenders to justice. Singh also emphasized the importance of proper case preparation, timely filing of chargesheets and the coordination between the prosecution and law enforcement agencies.
 
During the meeting, Harvinder Singh took a serious note of government servants who were found neglecting their duties related to court cases. He warned that strict action would be taken against officers who fail to take legal matters seriously or exhibit non-cooperation with government counsels. The DC reiterated that legal vigilance is crucial in ensuring justice and maintaining the rule of law in the district.
 
The Deputy Commissioner further directed all officers to remain vigilant regarding court proceedings and to provide full support to government legal representatives. He assured that the administration would closely monitor the progress of these cases and hold regular reviews to ensure that justice is not delayed.
