PCC demands stern action against terrorism

Endorse introspection on reasons of defeat, asks for check on irresponsible comments in the media.

Jammu Oct 22 (RNA) : A meeting of Senior leaders of Congress was held here today under the chairmanship of Working President Shri Raman Bhalla attended by Seniors leaders Shri Mula Ram, Shri Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Vinod Sharma, Naresh Gupta, Indu Pawar, Pranav Shagotra, Dina Nath Bhagat, Satish Sharma, Shashi Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Namrata Sharma, S. Gurdarshan Singh, Ch. Hussain Ali Waffa, , Sanjeev Panda, Bhushan Dogra, Khushal Bali, Teja Singh, Vinay Sharma and others.

The meeting strongly condemned the gruesome incident of attack on innocent persons by terrorists at Ganderbal area in which seven persons including an architect of Jammu Shashi Abrol were killed. The meeting expressed great concern over the incident and asked the Centre and UT Govt. to take stern measures against terrorism and ensure the safety and security of civilians, especially the workforce in vulnerable areas.

Two minutes silence was also observed in the meeting to pray for peace to the departed souls and for early recovery of injured. The meeting expressed deep sympathies with the families of victims and asked the government to give adequate exgratia relief besides a job to the next of kin of deceased Shashi Abrol.

The meeting also discussed the current political situation and organizational affairs. The meeting said that Congress is still a strong force in both regions of Jammu and Kashmir. It won majority of seats it contested in Kashmir and defeated the deceptive designs of BJP and its allies , while gave a tough fight in most assembly segments in Jammu Region where the party candidates secured thousands of votes, although the final result was not in favour of the party despite strong resentment against the BJP.

Thus party needs to introspect the reasons for the final outcome of results, despite a favourable atmosphere in the beginning. For this the PCC President has rightly constituted a fact finding committee to look into all those reasons which led to defeat of the party. The committee shall examine all those reasons which led to the unfavourable final results.

The meeting also expressed strong displeasure over the irresponsible statements and comments by some leaders and activists against the party and the leadership at this stage in the media and asked for immediate restraint on such activities and also asked the leadership and the disciplinary committee to take cognizance of such activities immediately and check such elements from maligning the image of the party and the leadership
