Army Organises Women's Premier League Baramulla


 Baramulla, Oct 22 (RNA): Chinar Warriors, Dagger Division and Baramulla Arty Brigade in collaboration with Baramulla Cricket Forum organised Women’s Premier League Baramulla to showcase, fierce competition, and inspiring sportsmanship. This groundbreaking tournament brought together some of the region’s top female cricket players, solidifying its role as a key platform for promoting women’s sports in Jammu & Kashmir.

 
The finale, held at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, saw an exciting clash between Anantnag and Baramulla in the professional category, with Anantnag taking the championship after a hard-fought battle. In the amateur category, Government Girls Higher Secondary School secured victory in a close contest against DPS. The event provided a high level of cricket, highlighting the depth of talent among the women’s sporting community. Talat Raina from Anantnag shone brightly, earning the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance.
 
The league was created to offer a platform for aspiring female athletes, focusing on empowerment and increasing participation in sports. Eight professional teams from across Kashmir competed fiercely, while six amateur teams showcased their talents, aiming to be selected for professional teams.
 
Major General Paranvir Singh Punia, SM, GOC Dagger Division and Brigadiar RM Bhat, Commander Baramulla Arty Brigade Felicitated the teams and players. This initiative sends a powerful message of 'Women Empowerment,' particularly for female cricketers from rural and remote areas. It also promises to shift the socio-cultural dynamics of the region while boosting the morale of its youth, signaling a positive step for women's sports in Kashmir.
