Srinagar, 14 October 2024 (RNA): The Jammu & Kashmir Kerosene Oil Dealers Association held a significant meeting after a prolonged period, under the chairmanship of its president, Mr. Babar Malik. The meeting was attended by all kerosene oil dealers from the Kashmir Valley, marking a crucial step toward addressing the ongoing kerosene supply crisis.
During the meeting, Mr. Malik highlighted the severe kerosene shortage that the valley has been experiencing for several years. He pointed out that the scarcity has caused immense difficulties for the population, particularly those residing in rural and remote areas, who rely heavily on kerosene for their daily needs.
Despite numerous appeals to the Governor's administration and other authorities, Mr. Malik expressed disappointment that no concrete steps had been taken to resolve the issue. He emphasized that the continuous neglect of this problem has only worsened the situation for the common people, especially during the harsh winter months.
With the Union Territory on the verge of forming a public government, the association hopes that the incoming administration will prioritize the availability of kerosene in the Valley. Mr. Malik urged the new government to ensure a regular and adequate supply of kerosene to mitigate the suffering of the people, particularly in rural areas.
The association remains hopeful that the authorities will take prompt action to restore normalcy and alleviate the crisis before winter sets in.
