Srinagar, Oct 9 : Congress leader Tariq Karra on Wednesday said that National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah will first meet with his legislature party before holding discussions with alliance partners to finalize the governance structure in Jammu and Kashmir.
"First, he will hold a meeting with his legislature party. After that, he will meet with alliance partners, where the governance model will be decided," Karra told reporters after a brief congratulatory meeting with Omar Abdullah at his residence.
On being asked about the rumors that Congress is demanding the position of Deputy Chief Minister, Karra dismissed the remours. “We don’t know where these talks are coming from. Nothing of that sort has been discussed yet," he said.
Karra said that today’s meeting was purely to congratulate Abdullah and his team on their victory in the assembly elections. "We came here to congratulate him on his victory. Official discussions will take place after the meetings with the legislative members and alliance partners," he said.
When asked about contentious issues like the reinstatement of Article 370, Karra said that these matters will be discussed in detail later, after the new government is fully in place. "Any such talks will happen at the appropriate time," he added..
