Assembly Elections-2024: DEO Baramulla reviews election preparedness with Nodal Officers

BARAMULLA SEPTEMBER 19: Ahead of the Phase 3 of the 2024 Assembly Elections, the District Election Officer (DEO), Minga Sherpa held a meeting today with nodal officers to review the arrangements for the assembly elections arrangements in the District.
The meeting addressed essential logistics, security protocols, and administrative strategies to ensure the smooth conduct of elections.
Nodal officers of police briefed the DEO on the security arrangements, assuring that adequate personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order at all polling stations with special attention to be given to sensitive areas, ensuring a conducive voting environment.
The DEO directed the ARTO to submit a complete transport plan within two days to guarantee the seamless transportation of election materials and staff. In addition, the District Informatic Officer was instructed to present an IT plan for effective real-time communication and data management during the election.
The District Information Officer was instructed to submit a detailed report on the functioning of the district’s Media Center, which is responsible for communicating election-related information to the public.
The District Nodal Officer SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) provided an update on the ongoing activities, which aim to increase voter awareness and turnout, with a special focus on marginalized groups and first-time voters.
The nodal officer for EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) briefed Minga Sherpa on the status of the First Level Checking (FLC) process, ensuring that all machines have been thoroughly tested and secured in compliance with Election Commission of India's guidelines.
To enhance the voter experience, the DEO directed the nodal officer for election to ensure that all model polling stations are properly decorated and prepared as these stations serve as an example of efficient and voter-friendly polling environments across the district.
The DEO stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and timely execution of tasks, encouraging all officers to remain proactive and vigilant to ensure a smooth, secure, and transparent election process.
