DC reviews functioning of Handicrafts & Handloom Department Kulgam

KULGAM, JULY 29: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today reviewed the functioning of the Handicrafts & Handloom Department in a meeting of officers held at the mini sectreiat Kulgam.
At the outset, the AD Handicrafts & Handloom briefed the chair through a PPT that 11314 artisans in Handicrafts sector and 5207 Weavers in Handloom sector are presently registered with the department, in which 1474 artisans have been covered under ACC old scheme and 284 in CCS new scheme in Handicrafts sector, besides 260 Weavers have been covered under mudra scheme in handloom sector.
Moreover, 188 cooperative societies were formed in the district covering 1930 artisans and weavers. In addition to this, 39 artisans have been benefited under the Karkhandar scheme.
The department of Handicrafts & Handloom is also imparting training through 18 departmental training centers to the unskilled youth throughout the District.
The DC directed the officers to work diligently to achieve the desired outcome from the schemes and achieve the target in a time bound manner.
He assured the department that the district administration will provide all possible help to achieve the desired goals.
The DC also instructed the bank authorities to speed up the disbursal of the sponsored cases in a time bound manner.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Bashir Ahmad Wani; JDP, Zahid Sajjad; AD Handicrafts & other officers.
