Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrates 86th raising day


 Srinagar, June 27 (RNA) : 86th CRPF Raising Day was proudly celebrated at Group Centre, CRPF, Srinagar campus with great enthusiasm and reverence. The day's events began with a solemn. ceremony paying homage to the brave martyrs who have laid down their lives in the line of duty at Shaheed Smarak, GC CRPF Srinagar.

 
A Sainik Sammelan was also organized at "Shaheed Pramod Kumar Hall", wherein Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav, IPS, IG Srinagar Sector has addressed to the senior Officer's, subordinate Officer's, and jawan's of Srinagar based office's. Firstly, he extended his heartiest congratulations to the force, acknowledging their relentless dedication and sacrifice in maintaining the internal security of the country.
 
A comprehensive briefing by Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav, IPS, IG Srinagar Sector has also been done on the achievements and challenges faced by the CRPF. He apprised the august gathering that the Central Reserve Police Force was established on 27th July 1939 as the Country Representative Police in Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh). On 19th March 1950, Sardar Patel presented the flag to the force in a grand ceremony held in Delhi. With time, the demand for this force also increased and accordingly, its size also increased. The Central Reserve Police Force is the largest Central Armed Police Force of India and has a glorious past and a very strong presence.
 
Its history is full of innumerable bravery stories and golden achievements. The soldiers of this force became the first victims of the Chinese attack in Hot Spring, Ladakn. On 21 October 1959, a Chinese contingent ambushed a patrolling contingent of the Central Reserve Police Force. Facing a numerically larger Chinese contingent and driving them back, 10 soldiers of the force were martyred while protecting the motherland. Since then, 21" October has been celebrated as "Police Commemoration Day" throughout the country. On 09th April 1965, a small cortingent of the 2nd Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, deployed at Sardar Post in Gujarat, foiled a Brigade level attack by the Pakistani Army and drove them back. In which 34 soldiers of the Pakistani Army were killed and 06 soldiers of the force were also martyred in the line of duty. Since then 09 April has been celebrated as "Shourya Diwas" in the Force. Central Reserve Police Force personnel have made a notable contribution in foiling the attack by terrorists on Parliament on 13th December 2001 and the attack on Ram Janmabhoomi anc Babri Masjid complex in Ayodhya on 5 July 2005.
 
Bestowing faith upon this great Force the government has assigned responsibility
 
to conduct free and fair elections throughout the country. The Force has made its valuable contribution in successfully conducting the recently held Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in various areas of the country. Besides, the personnel are playing an
 
important role in making Sari Amarnath Ji Yatra-2024 safe and successful.
 
Formed from one battalion in 1939, today the strength of the force has increased to 247 battalions. In his address, Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav, IPS, IG Srinagar Sector, CRPF highlighted the crucial role played by the CRPF in various operations across the nation, from combating insurgency to providing aid during natural disasters. He commended the personnel for their bravery, professionalism, and unyielding spirit, which continue to inspire the nation.
 
A tree plantation programme was also organized on this occasion. As the CRPF moves forward, it remains steadfast in its mission to serve the nation with courage and integrity, living up to its motto: "Service and Loyalty."(RNA)
