CCF Kashmir conducts inspection of Budgam forests, reviews ongoing forestry initiatives


 BUDGAM, OCTOBER 23 (RNA) : In a significant step towards strengthening forestry management and conservation efforts, the Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, Irfan Rasool Wani today undertook an extensive tour of Pir Panjal Forest Division, Budgam.

 
The visit focused on reviewing ongoing forestry initiatives and assessing the forest protection scenario in the Division. The CCF, Kashmir emphasized the need for close coordination between the Territorial Staff and the Forest Protection Force, urging all staff to remain vigilant, particularly during the autumn season to prevent any forest fire related incidents.
 
The CCF conducted a thorough inspection of various key sites and initiatives within the division, aimed at promoting sustainable forest practices and biodiversity conservation. He visited the Sheikh-ul-Alam Nursery, Kanidajan, a vital conifer nursery of Kashmir region, where he assessed the ongoing efforts in raising seedlings for reforestation.
 
He visited the prominent forest blocks, including Yousmarg, Nilnag, Kanidajan, and Padshahtar to assess the on-ground situation regarding forest conservation and protection, and the sustainable management of forest resources. The inspection also aimed at reviewing the implementation of various developmental works in these areas.
 
A thorough review of ongoing survey and demarcation activities within the Division was carried out, as these works are crucial for maintaining clear forest boundaries, preventing encroachments, and ensuring the long-term protection of forest lands.
 
The visit underscored the commitment of the Forest Department to promote sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation in Pir Panjal Forest Division Budgam. By focusing on afforestation, effective demarcation, and close coordination with Forest Protection Forces, the Division aims to safeguard the rich natural heritage of the District for future generations.
 
The CCF was accompanied by Syed Wasim Gul, DFO, Pir Panjal Forest Division, Budgam, Syed Abid Nazir Deputy Director, Forest Protection Force, Budgam, Range Officers, and forest frontline staff.
