GMC Anantnag organizes CME to commemorate ‘World Anesthesia Day’

ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 16: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on the theme ‘Anesthesia in Modern Perspective,’ to mark ‘World Anesthesia Day.’

The CME witnessed a gathering of distinguished professors, department heads, faculty members, and students, including MS and Deputy MS of MMABM Associated Hospital, desk officers, and guest faculty from other renowned medical institutions.
Faculty members who shared their insights and presented scientific discussions included Dr. Mohd Ashraf Teli (Prof. Radiation Oncology), Dr. Zafar Iqbal (Associate Prof. Anesthesiology), Dr. Shayesta Ali (Associate Prof. Anesthesiology), Dr. Riyaz Malik (Consultant Anesthesiology), Dr. Khalida Mushtaq (Consultant Anesthesiology), Junaid Ahmad Dar (Consultant Anesthesiology), and Dr. Junaid Jeelani (Senior Resident Anesthesiology).
The occasion was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb as the chief guest, while Dr. Waseem Salman, Head of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, GMC Baramulla, served as the guest of honour. Dr. Andleeb Fazal and Dr. Mehak Shabir, both DNB Anesthesiology PG residents at GMC Anantnag, conducted the event as masterful comparers.
Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, a revered anesthesiologist and critical care specialist, delivered an inspiring keynote address, sharing the historical evolution of anesthesiology and its roots in dentistry.
Prof. Najeeb highlighted the college’s commitment to improving intensive care services for critically ill patients at GMC Anantnag and expressed optimism about soon launching MD/MS programs in anesthesiology, which would elevate GMC Anantnag to the standards of the nation’s prestigious medical colleges.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Anjum Shamim, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Anesthesiology, GMC Anantnag, who also presented the vote of thanks, marking the end of the event.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to dedicated doctors and supportive staff in recognition of their exemplary services toward patient care and academic contributions.
