Ahmad Ayaz Highlights Growing Discontent Over Basic Services in Srinagar

Ahmad Ayaz

There is a growing discontent among the masses regarding the redressal of public grievances. Many officials are perceived as underperforming, and there appears to be a lack of accountability and action against these non-performing individuals. Several critical issues need urgent attention:

1. DRINKING WATER SUPPLY:  Drinking Water Supply: The provision of drinking water, a basic necessity, is deteriorating, and people are craving for it. In Srinagar city, regular water supply is no longer maintained as it was before. Additionally, many rural areas are yet to receive drinking water through pipelines.

2. POWER SUPPLY CURTAILMENTS: Despite significant investments in the installation of smart meters and an increase in tariffs, power supply curtailments are being witnessed for the first time during the summer months. This is causing widespread inconvenience and frustration among the residents.

3. ROAD CONDITIONS: Many roads on the outskirts of Srinagar are in a dilapidated state, with the concerned departments remaining unmoved and unresponsive to the situation. Some of these roads were partly macadamized 2-3 years ago, with the rest left unmacadamized.

The administration needs to address these issues urgently to restore public confidence and ensure the efficient delivery of essential services. There must be accountability for officials and clear responsibility fixed to address these concerns effectively.

Ahmad Ayaz calls upon the LG administration to take immediate and decisive action to alleviate these pressing issues and to demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents.
