SWD Ramban launches awareness campaign on various welfare schemes

RAMBAN, JULY 11: Social Welfare Department, Ramban launched an extensive campaign to raise awareness about various social welfare services.

This initiative aims to educate the public about the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), the Child Helpline, the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the operations of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and the One Stop Centre (OSC).

District Social Welfare Officer Ramban, Rahul Gupta, highlighted the importance of the ISSS and NSAP pension schemes, which provide financial assistance to the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities. By explaining the eligibility criteria, benefits, and application process, the campaign aims to ensure that the most vulnerable sections of society can access these benefits.

Emphasizing the welfare of children, the DSWO stressed the significance of the 24/7 operational Child Helpline. This service provides immediate rescue and support for children in distress. The community is encouraged to use this resource to report child abuse, exploitation, or any situation endangering a child's safety.

To clarify the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the DSWO provided insights into this modern legal framework designed to streamline and improve India’s criminal justice system. Citizens are urged to familiarize themselves with their rights and the legal avenues available to them under the BNS.

The DSWO also explained the functions of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and the One Stop Centre (OSC). These institutions offer legal aid, psychological support, and rehabilitation services to women in distress. The OSC provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, making essential services more accessible.

Through community meetings, awareness camps, and door-to-door campaigns, the DSWO is ensuring that information about these schemes and services reaches every part of the district, particularly underserved and remote areas.

This outreach initiative by the Social Welfare Department enhances the community's understanding of essential services and strengthens the social welfare framework in Ramban. The DSWO's dedication and efforts underscore the district's commitment to the welfare and empowerment of its residents.
